DEADLY DEEDS by
Zelda Becht
The New York Thruway, cutting across Rt. 17, has
bypassed Birch Valley.
The
laid-back, agrarian community, situated in one corner of the
Catskill
Mountain chain,
has turned deadly.
At a town meeting Hattie objects to the building of a ski resort on the
East Ridge, directly above an old eagles aerie still in use. Next day she is killed in a hit and run. Her
veterinarian granddaughter, Samantha, questions Grams death. And why are some farmers no longer working their farms, their
deeds no longer in the Town files? Samantha finds copies of the missing deeds tucked into Hatties
diary.
She questions: who
is FBBM Land Acquisitions?
Samantha, escaping attempts on her life, succeeds in accomplishing what
Hattie wanted,
but not before Grandpa Joe dies also.
